I'm Ken Feldman. I call myself and my band Feldiken. I'm an award winning singer/songwriter, and performer. I write a lot about people's connections with each other.I've played for adults and children, with my band, and solo, inall kinds of venues including the NYC school system. I teach guitar and keyboard to young people as well. I've played DC/Philly/Boston and festivals with Sidewalk Zydeco.I've released two albums I love in the last two years. The first, Small Songs About Us is about relationships. Common Splendor is my second album and it is about the broader connections we have with each other. I"m available for parties and lessons and anything musical you can think of.

I've been singing for first and second graders in a bunch of classrooms at several schools in Manhattan, and just completed a recording session with five third graders doing vocals. That's for my upcoming family music album - "Make It Play."Some new songs are "In My School," about how school should be, "My Country Now" about the whole world being my country and "Slide" about sliding.I've been meeting with seven other family music performers and we're organizing a family music series that will kickoff this spring in Manhattan. We are finalizing plans for it to take place at The Westside YMCA, Grosvenor House in NYC, sometime at the end of March or early April. Some of the participating artists include: The Fuzzy Lemons, The Rockdoves, The Up Past Bedtime Band, Patricia Shih, Feldiken, Junior Jam and more. We will keep you posted about this very exciting ongoing series. I'm in the process of booking some college shows for the spring, with a college booking agent. I've never done this before and I'm so excited!I like Joshua Paul Johnson's teaser for his film about people doing creative things with each other. It has footage of me writing a song, and at a recent "turnlistening" houseconcert. I've been playing with other supporters of Occupy Wallstreet. I've been writing songs about it, and being around for it.

Article 1
Make It Play !
My first family music album - "Make It Play" is 90% recorded and will be released in 2012. I always love playing with young people, especially through music. There is nothing like the sound of young voices and I hope to capture a bit of that on this album. There's a sneak peek of some of the songs here. Two songs have already been playd on "Tot Radio" and "Captain Jellybean Radio." Many second graders have learned to sing these songs and sing (mainly backup) on the album.
Article 2
Turnlistening
Turnlistening is people taking timed turns listening to each other, often after hearing a moving song. i started doing Turnlistening House concerts about 6 months ago and it has been an interesting experiment. Filmaker Josua Paul Johnson spurred me to doing this when he asked to interview me and film some turnlistening events for his feature film about creative endeavors between people. His short teaser is neat and I'm looking forward to the feature.

1st Prize, Great American Song Contest, Contemporary Acoustic/Folk category. I've gotten some good reviews of my two albums. My latest one is:"Common Splendor" Cyrus Rhodes of Indie Music Digest""... possesses enough musical talent & songwriting prowess to be extremelydangerous... will lift your spirits".Jimmy Rae of Skope"Feldiken has tapped into something incredible. Artistry & musicianship at its finest here as Feldiken gives you a memorable & delicate performance....You the man, Feldiken!" (four and one half scopes out of five).Windy's World "..charming in his honesty and good-natured approach. Feldiken writes and performs with a flair that's unmistakable and projects a persona that's instantly likeable."James McQuiston of Neufuture Magazine"Together in this Groove ...has a bass groove that is absolutely sick......Feldiken will never disappoint."Rockwired Radio"In his eagerness to incorporate different sounds and textures on his latest offering, Feldiken proves himself to be a songwriter with unparalleled dexterity and craftiness." Mark Morton of Music Emmissions "Common Splendor is one of those feel-good EPs positively designed for summer consumption. Each song is bright and sunny, bearing a stylistic disposition on par to something along the lines of The Byrds by way of They Might Be Giants..... should be commended."Jerseybeat said:"Delivering a wonderfully upbeat and energetic burst of pure happy vigor, this 6 song EP CD immediately wins the listener over on the irresistible basis of its utterly infectious sunny optimism alone. Fortunately, said optimism never gets too cutesy or cloying. Instead Brooklyn-based artist Feldiken manages to find a bright and better tomorrow past the gloomy present of today. It certainly helps that Feldiken possesses a very warm and reassuring voice and a real knack for pleasant and comforting lyrics. The catchy 'n funky electronic arrangements likewise hit the get-down groovy spot. Sure, we still got dismal crap like the recession and unemployment, but if you hang tight with your supportive friends things will somehow work out in the long run. A sweet and appealing little beaut." (review expired from site but reproduced here.)Independent Cluses: Quick Hits"Feldiken's voice is solid, his songwriting is tight, and the EP wooshes by with a grin and a dance step or two."My first album was:"Small Songs About Us"Music with an Exclamation Point "...intelligent, universal, and personal all at once..." Melissa Kucirek, of Indie Music Suite101 " draws from simplicity, suprisingly big vibes."
